Dearest Ripkanistas: how have you all been? Things have been in limbo here, not much solved and our case with our town is still not resolved. The only good possibility is that it looks like the City Manager will be replaced and hopefully that will have an impact on resolution for us. Am still on megadoses of garlic which is beating back my bug--thanks to a fine suggestion a couple of visits ago by Me2Me. THANKS!! However, it is still not completely gone. Today is also an emotional anniversary for moi--25 years ago today was the Tiananmen Square tragedy and those who suffered still are being repressed from saying anything about it or mourning their lost family members and friends. Those who remember, it was all about student and worker demonstrations for democracy and I was there as a student thanks to an exchange with my university and a school in Shanghai. The demonstrations were not just in Beijing but all across the country and it was everyone, not just young students. As Americans, we were treated like rock stars everywhere we went. We stood for something important: freedom. I knew it then, that this would be the peak experience of my life and it remains so. We are fortunate in the United States to have a democracy, as imperfect as it is, and if you saw all of those people fighting for it, you would treasure it like I do.
Anyway, lots of retail therapy here with our dear Judith's visit and I admit to doing some major partaking lately, due to all the specials.
