Good afternoon and happy Sunday to us all.
Hot and beautiful weather for today. Promises of a real summertime weather, adding humidity, will be here to make Independence Day fireworks hot.
I had quite an experience yesterday, with both ying/yang elements. We had a late afternoon family wedding which was outdoors for the whole thing. Had I known this earlier I probably would not have accepted. Between my allergies from you-know-where and and my internal thermometer which is unregulated due to the meds I must take, there was the possibility of a whole bunch of trouble. And it eventually found me.
The ceremony was lovely, and there was shade and a tiny breeze to help cool. The bride looked like a younger version of Grace Kelly and the groom was just adorable.
When we relocated to the cocktail area the perspiration also arrived. I tried a sip of my fav cocktail, only to regret the sip immediately as the hotness was increased ten fold. Immediately I switched to diet anything and it helped.
When we went into the tent for the rest of the wonderful festivities I began to boil over. There were some ceiling fans, but not near enough to me to make a difference. Little by little I felt as if I were melting. After speeches, blessings and the salad course I must have begun to look the same way I was feeling - nauseous and really to pass out. DH & DS insisted that I go to the indoor area, which was not set up for guests, to get a cooling break. I did and after 1/2 hour in the a/c I was feeling a bit better.
By the time I returned to the tent/table it seemed to have cooled enough that I wasn't sweating profusely and I actually managed to eat a little chicken. After the cake ceremony, which was done with a sword since our nephew is a Marine, we took off for home. I was so angry at myself for not being able to enjoy such a joyous occasion. I was never so happy for a/c and then my shower.
I awoke today with my eyes in turmoil due to my allergies and totally wiped out from the heat experience.
Off to go and try and read the paper and maybe a nap is also in my future.
Make it a great week!
