Yo! 1/18/14. - B. Franklin's b-day, 370 years ago
Good morning and happy Saturday to us all. Weather is turning colder, with snow squall expected at anytime. Temps are to be bitter by next week. I'm doing my hair thingy stuff today, coloring first and then cut at a different salon. I hate the process of doing but enjoy the finished results, especially when I can see without resembling a shaggy dog. DTGD isa in the midst of a nasty cold. I expect mine to arrive, and maybe it won't, after the weekend. Although I don't quite know how I'd miss getting it as she has been sneezing all over me for the past few days. After she sneezes, she giggles, puts her hand to her mouth and says excuse me. It's after the cow has left the barn, but cute nevertheless. Make if a great day!

Brrrrrrrrrr! The temp has dropped quite a bit and the winds have picked up. Currently it's 28. We may get snow flurries, but not accumulation. The big freeze will arrive next week. DB & I will be very happy.
By the way, DTGD loves everything Basso. I have a throw in my family room and she just loves cuddling with it. She is very tactile and loves to stroke it. She does the same thing to my coats. I am corrupting her with faux furs and jewelry, but what a way to go! :)
I hope your favorite team wins today. Off to tea and the paper.

Good evening and happy Sunday to us all.
Cold and some snow flurries. The Arctic will revisit on Tuesday and stay for a few days. I've worn a DB long coat which I've not worn in three years b/c it's so warm. That's my silver lining.
It's not been a particularly good week. Snow and more snow, cold and colder, DTGD has been really sick with a rotten cold, DH is having knee problems, and DS#1 is in the hospital.
He fell on Monday & wouldn't go to the hospital. By Tuesday the pain was much worse and DH went over to his apt. and was snowed in, even though by that time he wanted the hospital. They finally made it to a neighborhood hospital Wednesday afternoon and they thought he dislocated his artificial hip. DS#1 was sedated as they tried to manipulate it back to position, but it was unsuccessful. He was transferred by ambulance to a hospital downtown near midnight, where his ortho. surgeon is. On Thursday DS#1 was sedated and his surgeon tried to manipulate his hip back in place; it was a no-go. All day Friday he was held in pre op waiting for a window of opportunity for his surgeon to operate. He was finally taken around 1:30pm and they had to replace the entire hip. This is his third artificial hip in his left leg. The surgeon and DS#1 are watching sounds in his left hip and worry that it too may collapse. It has something to do with the 100plus pounds which DS#1 has lost in the past year and the hip not being designated for his weight now. If he could eat and keep the food down the weight would not have been lost. He was running a fever of near 103 and is expected to be in the hospital for a few more days and then go to rehab. We just returned from the hospital and he is in a lot of pain.

IS THIS FORUM AFFLICTED W/ A CASE OF TERMINAL APATHY?
At first I thought it was just because of the holidays & everyone was busy. But with the holidays over & done with (thank God!), & w/ another visit from Judith only 6 days away, I am wondering whether the mood of the forum has really changed for good. There are few posts, even questions do not get many answers, many fewer reviews, & absolutely no excitement over any new items despite the fact that Godfreako recently posted lots of "NEW". I am not saying we have to love everything Judith presents, but I even appreciated the comments of a more critical nature over the absence of any posts at all. I know that the prices have soared, but just discussing the new pieces for their aesthetic value has always been fun for me. I have a HUGE collection of JR (most all of it QVC) & so I really don't "need" any more. But I still add one or two new pieces w/ each visit. In particular, I thought the aventurine necklace w/ the pearls & the rhodolite garnet hearts tennis bracelet, both of which turned up on Godfreako's post, were really special, but no one showed any excitement or lack thereof for anything. I really miss the opinions, the discussions about the pieces, the suggestions on how to combine some of the newer pieces w/ the older pieces, the posts for LQs & last clicks, & in general, any info on JR's jewelry. Am I the only fan of Ripka who has noticed this downturn of interest? Some people were saying that Judith has been on too often, but this time there has been a greater space between visits. If no one responds to this post, I guess that will answer my question!
